Every gift supports the church’s mission locally and globally:
- 50% – Local Ministry: Strengthens your worshiping community (Downtown, Andover, or Offerings).
- 25% – Church Operations: Funds staff, facilities, and essential services.
- 21% – Missions & Outreach: Supports local and global service efforts.
- 4% – Leadership & Growth: Develops future church leaders and new worship communities.
Special & Designated Giving:
- Special Offerings: 100% goes directly to the designated cause (e.g., disaster relief, missions).
- Capital Projects: Every dollar funds specific improvements.
- Restricted Contributions: Large gifts ($1,000+) are directed to chosen ministries.

First UMC Endowment Foundation
Established in 2001, the First UMC Endowment Foundation ensures long-term support for ministries beyond the annual budget. Gifts can be directed toward:
- Missions & Outreach – Expanding global and local service.
- Music & Worship – Supporting vibrant worship experiences.
- Church Needs – Sustaining infrastructure and essential programs.
- Scholarships & Leadership – Investing in future church leaders.

How can I give?
You can give in several ways:
- Online – Secure giving through our website.
- In-Person – Drop contributions in the offering plate during worship.
- By Mail – Send checks to the church office (200 W. High St., Lexington, KY, 40507)
- Stocks & QCD – This can a tax-efficient way to support FUMC
- Planned Giving – Leave a lasting legacy through the Endowment Foundation.
Can I designate my gift for a specific purpose?
Yes! You can contribute to specific ministries, missions, or projects. Special offerings and designated gifts are used 100% for their intended purpose. Some restrictions apply.
How is the church budget decided?
Our finance committee and community leadership teams, comprised of church leaders, prayerfully create a budget that balances faithful simplicity and generous outreach, ensuring funds are used wisely to support ministry, operations, and missions.
Are my contributions tax-deductible?
Yes! All gifts to First Church are tax-deductible. You will receive an annual giving statement for your records.
Who manages the church’s finances?
Our finances are overseen by a team of church leaders, including our Treasurer and Church Administrator, ensuring transparency and accountability.
