The Offerings Community of First United Methodist Church

“I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, on the basis of God’s mercy, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your reasonable act of worship.”

The Offerings Community is one of three unique worshiping communities that make up First United Methodist Church in Lexington, KY. Rooted in Paul’s encouragement to the church in Rome (Romans 12:1), we strive to take our everyday lives—our sleeping, eating, working, and walking-around lives—and offer them fully to God as a living sacrifice.

In this spirit, we are a community that loves deeply, challenges one another with grace, and walks together in faith. We learn, grow, and serve side by side, seeking to live out God’s calling in our daily lives.

Worship

Each week during our Sunday worship, we gather to hear scripture, engage in liturgy, pray together, and reflect on God’s Word through preaching. At the heart of our worship is the Eucharist, where we come to the Table as a community, remembering and receiving God’s grace.

While our worship follows the rich traditions of the Church—including creeds, liturgies, and scripture readings—we embrace a casual and intimate atmosphere, making these ancient practices accessible and deeply personal. Our style is modern yet simple, with a small band or worship leader guiding us through a mix of contemporary worship songs and beloved hymns.

Our community is made up of people from all walks of life, with a strong presence of young adults and families with young children. We are a place for those seeking authentic relationships, meaningful worship, and a faith that shapes everyday life.

We deeply value the presence of children in worship and celebrate their active participation, especially during our community prayer time! At the same time, we recognize the importance of providing a message tailored just for them. Each Sunday, children begin in worship with the whole congregation before transitioning to their own time of children’s worship after prayer. They return in time to receive communion alongside their families, reinforcing their place in our shared life of faith.

Nursery care for children 6-weeks thru preschool is available during the Sunday school hour (9:50 AM – 10:45 AM) as well as for Sunday morning worship.

Children & Youth

Because we share the High Street Campus building with the Downtown Community, many of our Sunday morning discipleship opportunities for kids and youth are shared between the two communities. 

Adults

We offer a College & Young Adult small group on Sunday mornings (9:45-10:45 AM).

Additionally, we offer topical Sunday School classes throughout the year.

Works of Mercy

We actively partner with organizations that are making a vital impact through financial giving as well as through volunteering.
